Sleep Apnea Tests

PEOPLE WHO HAVE SLEEP APNEA SNORE.
SNORING AND SLEEP APNEA WORSEN OVER TIME.

Untreated sleep apnea sufferers have a ten fold increased chance of stroke, an eight fold increased chance of automobile accidents, increased risk of hypertension, arteriosclerosis, heart attack, diabetes, impotence, gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD), and other chronic diseases.

THESE TESTS INDICATE WHETHER YOU ARE LIKELY TO HAVE SLEEP APNEA

How likely are you to doze off or fall asleep in the following situations in contrast to just feeling tired? This refers to your usual way of life in recent times. Even if you have not done some of these things recently, try to imagine how they would have affected you. Use the following scale to choose the most appropriate value for each situation.

    Epworth Sleepiness Scale

    Situation Chance of dozing
    None Slight Moderate High
    Sitting and reading
    Watching Television
Sitting inactive in a public place (e.g. movie, meeting)
Riding in a car for an hour without a break
Lying down to rest in the afternoon
    Sitting talking to someone
Sitting quietly after a lunch without alcohol
In a car, while stopped for a few minutes in traffic
